Creating and Using Tables

By: BriskieL

Creating Tables: Multi uses of tables.  To learn how to create layered tables (with backgrounds), refer to Hobbit's Flash-Tutorial HERE.

Multi-Tables can be set up to enhance a custom webpage. Multi-layered complete with backgrounds, or multi layers of embedded tables of different sizes to give a uniform look to text, and graphics layouts. But first, creating tables is slightly different when setting them up within messages, or custom pages.

An added option to colorizing the backgrounds is installed within the tools in custom pages.  Below is what you have available when installing a table within a message area.

This image shows what is available when installing a table within a custom webpage. The tool circled in purple is the 'bucket fill' tool that can be used after creating a table, with the option of coloring each 'cell' a different color.  The color code chart indicates you can set a whole background one color only.   Also, you may not wish to enter a background tile, or a background color, which in turn will leave the background color of the particular table you created as 'CLEAR'. No color.

To have this happen, do not type anything in Background Image URL, or Background Color boxes.

Further down in another image, a clear table will be shown as an example of this.

There are endless ways to create a format for a custom page, without using a background tile.  Just the effect of multiple tables embedded inside another table, and colored cells creates a unique design!  There are 4 examples shown below.

Set 1 = 3 Single layered tables. Embedded in the 3rd layer is another table with 5 columns. Below the 5 columned table is another single table.

Set 2 = One single layer, with multiple various tables embedded in it. Including first - A single table.(grey)  Below that is a 3 columned table.(yellow)  Inside each of the 3 cells is one single table each. (red - blue - red)Below that group of tables is another single table. (purple)  Each cell clicked on(one cell at a time), then click the 'bucket fill' icon in the tool bar, to choose a color for each.

Set 3 = One single table (purple). Embedded in that table is a double columned table.(beige).  In each of the beige cells, on the left cell is another 5 row table. (grey). On the right in one single table. (grey)

Set 4 = A double row Table. (top row is purple, bottom row grey). In the top row is another 3 columned table (yellow).  In the bottom row is another 3 row table. (yellow)

There is yet another way to create and embed tables using background tiles and leaving one table with no color or tile shown. It will be shown as clear.  To edit any Table sets, you would have to first find a tile, find the url to the tile, and edit your table. To remove the colorizing of any or all cells, click html in edtor, and find the code and remove. Shown below. Also the added code for editing a table when adding a new background. shown below. (When editing an already created table, a double code will show up, and for the new background to show, one of the 2 sets of codes has to be deleted.)

Here is set one as shown above, but with a few background tiles added. The 5 column table, and the single table underneath that are left as clear backgrounds.  The layer under those has a tile, which shows through the clear tables above that.

If you find that you would like to add another row to any table above, after a table has been created, click the table needed, and click the table icon in the toolbar, then click Edit Table.
To add another row or column, choose from the right pane of the table editor, as many columns or rows needed.

Here is a table of 2 columns, 2 rows. I clicked on the table, copied and pasted the same below. I then clicked on the table below, clicked the Table icon in the toolbar, Edit Table, and chose to add more columns and rows.
